{% hint style="info" %}
**Who can use this feature?**

* Workspace **Owners**, **Super Admins**, **Admins**, and **Users**
* Supported using the Cerby web and mobile apps
  {% endhint %}

To add a database item using the Cerby mobile app, you must complete the following steps:

1. Open the Cerby mobile app on your mobile phone.
2. Log in to your Cerby workspace.
3. Tap the **Add** button from the bottom navigation bar. The **Select a category** screen is displayed with a list of options.
4. Select the **Database** option from the list. The **Database** screen is displayed.
5. Enter the information in the corresponding fields:
   * **Database label in Cerby:** It is the name of the database item that is always displayed on the secret card.
   * **Type:** It is the type of database, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other database management systems.
   * **Hostname:** It is the unique identifier of the server or machine name where the database is hosted.
   * **Port:** It is a numerical value of the specific communication endpoint on the server where the database is listening for incoming connections.
   * **Database:** It is the name of the specific database within the database server that the user wants to access or manage.
   * **Password:** It is the authentication key or passphrase required to access the database.
   * **SID:** It identifies a particular Oracle instance in a distributed network environment.
   * **Alias:** It is a user-defined name that can be used as a reference for the database.
   * **Notes:** It is a space for additional information or personalized notes related to the database.
6. (Optional) Select the **Ask users to confirm their identity to view the secret** option if you want an identity challenge to be issued when users want to view it. **NOTE:** You can add an identity challenge later via the Cerby web app. For more information, read the article [Edit a secret or secret item using the Cerby mobile app](/cerby-mobile-app/secrets/managing-your-secrets/edit-a-secret-or-secret-item.md).
7. (Optional) Enter the name of a collection to which you want to add the secret in the **Collection** name.
8. Select a vault where you want to save the secret from the **Vault** drop-down menu. **NOTE:** If you only have one vault, the **Vault** drop-down list is not displayed.
9. Tap the **Save** button in iOS or **Save item** in Android. A success message box is displayed.

Now you are done. You can start managing access to your items securely.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.cerby.com/cerby-mobile-app/secrets/managing-your-secrets/add-a-database-item.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
