This article describes how to view the secrets you have added or that you were granted shared access in Cerby.

Who can use this feature?

  • Workspace Owners, Super Admins, Admins, and Users

  • Secret Owners and Collaborators

  • Available in the Cerby web app, mobile, and web extension

  • NOTE: For the Cerby mobile app, read the article View a secret in the Cerby mobile app

All users with shared access to a secret, no matter their workspace role, can view the details of a secret.

Additionally, as mentioned in the article Add a secret, you can configure an identity challenge to view a secret. In this case, all users with shared access, including Owners, must confirm their identity to view a secret.

IMPORTANT: To confirm your identity when accessing through the Cerby web app, you must have access to one of Cerby's multi-factor authentication methods.

The following sections describe how to view a secret using each Cerby client app.


View a secret using the Cerby web app

To view a secret using the Cerby web app, you must complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to your corresponding Cerby workspace.

  2. Select the Secrets option from the left navigation drawer. The Secrets view is displayed.

  3. Click the secret card or the View icon from the corresponding secret card. The Secret dialog box is displayed with the content of the secret and the attachments.

    NOTE: If an identity challenge is configured, the Confirm your identity to continue dialog box is displayed. To confirm your identity, use one of Cerby's multi-factor authentication methods.

  4. Click the Done button to close the dialog box after viewing the secret.


View a secret using the Cerby browser extension

To view a secret using the Cerby browser extension, you must complete the following steps:

  1. Open the Cerby browser extension popup.

  2. Log in to your corresponding workspace using the Cerby browser extension.

  3. Activate the Secrets tab. All your saved and shared secrets are displayed.

  4. Click the corresponding secret card. The secret details page is displayed with the content of the secret and the attachments.

    NOTE: If an identity challenge is configured, the Confirm your identity to continue dialog box is displayed. To confirm your identity, use one of Cerby's multi-factor authentication methods.
